Under general supervision monitors and provides for a safe environment for Mountain View Pool visitors.

Position is part-time and requires a flexible work schedule that may include weekends, mornings, afternoons, and evenings.


Starting pay for a certified Lifeguard is $12.10 per hour.    Applicants not currently certified as lifeguards must pass a preliminary skills analysis and, if hired, serve in a trainee position as a Recreation Aide to be taught lifeguard protocols and certification requirements.  Rec Aide starting pay is $11.50/hr.    Lifeguard certification is required within 30 days.  Must pass criminal background check.




  • Monitors and provide for the safety of Mountain View Pool patrons
  • Conducts water rescue activities and administers CPR and first aid when needed
  • Ensures pool policies and rules are followed
  • Interacts with the public to answer questions, provide information, and assist with class registration
  • Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service
  • Communicate with the Aquatics Program Supervisor any issues or concerns
  • Submit timesheets and reports in a timely manner
  • Provide superior customer service to all pool patrons
  • Attend in-service trainings
  • Performs custodial duties and light facility maintenance




  • Must be at least 15 years of age
  • Ability to pass a criminal history background check
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification
  • Current Lifeguard Certification





A pool employee's duties often require long periods of sitting or standing in a hot, humid and often noisy environment.  While performing this job the employee may sit, stand, walk, grab, pull and push objects in or out of water, squat down, stoop, kneel, crouch and jump.  The employee may also need to move or lift up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision and hearing abilities are required to perform the job duties.
